Universal Access/ Post MDG 2015 Agenda

As a result of a specific focus on HIV in MDG 6 there have been HIV-centered political commitments and designated funding to address the AIDS epidemic. This concerted action towards Universal Access has led to significant progress in many countries. This progress has not however, been equal. Key populations continue to bear the brunt of the epidemic and face greater barriers to accessing services to promote their health and dignity.

Discussions among the partners of the Free Space Process and other civil society groups (including activists focusing on TB and malaria and SRHR) identified the need to develop joint strategies, agendas, and actions between now and September 2015 to influence the outcomes of the Millennium Development Summit and the new development framework post-2015.

There is a need to support a series of activities to enable community AIDS advocates and in particular key populations’ networks, to convene, develop an agenda and advocacy plan, mobilize broader community action (including linking with youth, SRHR and other MDG6 activists), and to participate in key MDG Summit processes.

This section will be updated with resources and tools to support advocates in their work of ensuring that AIDS remains on the development agenda.
