NGO Delegation UNAIDS PCB
Since October 2010, the Communications Facility (CF) of the NGO Delegation to the UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board (PCB) has been hosted by the International Council for AIDS Service Organizations (ICASO) in Toronto, Canada. The PCB is the governing body of UNAIDS and it is made up of Member States, UN agencies and NGO Delegates.
The mission of the PCB NGO Delegation is:
to bring to the PCB the perspectives and expertise of people living with, most affected by, and most at risk of, vulnerable to, marginalized by, and affected by HIV and AIDS, as well as civil society and nongovernmental entities actively involved in HIV/AIDS in order to ensure that their human rights, and equitable, gender-sensitive access to comprehensive HIV prevention, treatment, care, and support are reinforced by the policies, programmes, strategies and actions of the PCB and UNAIDS.
The CF works on behalf of the NGO Delegation to strengthen NGO participation and support the effectiveness of NGO country-level voices in the UNAIDS PCB. It provides the delegation with independent support, while working in collaboration with the UNAIDS Secretariat. Its main goals are to support the internal management of the Delegation and to help facilitate its communication and consultation with wider civil society to ensure that the PCB NGO delegation is appropriately nominated and equipped to represent civil society issues to the PCB.
