Toronto, CANADA–We are pleased to announce that Michael O’Connor has joined the ICASO team as a special advisor. Working on a part time basis, he will provide strategic and technical advice and support to ICASO, drawing on his past experience on AIDS and development in Canada and internationally.
From 2009 to 2012, Michael was the manager of civil society and private sector partnerships at the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (Global Fund). During his tenure, he led a team of senior program officers whose role was to promote civil society and private sector engagement in Global Fund activities, including governance, program implementation, and advocacy.
He was the Executive Director of the Interagency Coalition on AIDS and Development (ICAD) from 2000 to 2009, where he represented ICAD on international boards including the Developed Country NGO Delegation to the Global Fund Board and the UNAIDS Program Coordinating Board.
Since returning to Canada in 2013, Michael has been a consultant focusing on research, writing, and facilitation projects for a number of NGOs and international agencies including ICASO, International Civil Society Support (ICSS), Southern African AIDS Trust (SAT), UNAIDS, Myanmar Health and Development Network, Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND) and The Global Forum on MSM and HIV (MSMGF).
