Kieran Daly Steps Down as Executive Director
The Board of Directors of the International Council of AIDS Service Organizations (ICASO) announced that Kieran Daly ICASO’s Executive Director, will be stepping down at the end of July 2011 to take up an appointment with a major global donor agency.
The ICASO Board Chair, Ms Jacqueline Coleman said “The Board congratulates Kieran, we feel the donor agency could not have chosen a better candidate. Kieran has provided exceptional leadership to ICASO and the broader community sector AIDS movement. We look forward to working with him in the future to build on the work he has led at ICASO to create a more effective community response to HIV.”
Mary Ann Torres has been named the interim Executive Director to manage the organization while an executive recruitment process is conducted. Mary Ann has been with ICASO for over 9 years, and as the Senior Policy Advisor she has led and managed many of ICASO’s leading programmes.
“Mary Ann’s long-standing involvement in ICASO and her intimate knowledge of ICASO’s programs, her exceptional management capabilities, and her unique knowledge of the global HIV response and partners will ensure the agency maintains its momentum, capacity, and influence.” Ms Coleman said.
In addition, Don Baxter, a member of ICASO’s Board of Directors, is relocating to the Toronto office for a three month transition period as board liaison to provide additional support to governance processes and representational roles. Don recently stepped down from a decade-long leadership role as the Executive Director of the Australian Federation of AIDS Organisations (AFAO), and is currently the Co-Chair of the Global Forum on MSM and HIV.
The Board is confident that during this transition period the organization’s exceptionally committed and skilled staff and partners will continue to deliver on ICASO’s mission to support diverse community organizations respond to HIV and AIDS.
