How to Use This Site
Welcome to the Guide to Community Involvement in AIDS 2008. This Guide was created by the International Council of AIDS Service Organizations (ICASO) and the Global Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS (GNP+) to help you better understand and participate in the international AIDS conference to be held in Mexico City, August 3-8, 2008. Although much of the information in this Guide is also found on the main conference website, www.aids2008.org, here it is written by and for people from the community.
In this Guide you will find:
- A section of Tools, which includes forms, tip sheets, calendars and key dates.
- A section discussing issues specific to People Living with HIV.
- A section describing different parts of the Conference Programme and giving practical advice on how you can get involved.
- A section titled Before, During and After the Conference which details everything you need to know about getting to Mexico and getting the most out of the conference.
- A section on Community Involvement which describes the community co-organizers of the conference, the history of community involvement at international AIDS conferences, how to do advocacy, the role of activism and networking at the conference.
- A section on Conference Governance which lists committees and people planning the conference.
.PDFs: Some of the information is available in .PDF format, so feel free to print it and share with colleagues, friends and community members who do not have computer access. If you need the Adobe Acrobat Reader, you can download it for free here.
